I AM COMPETING IN THE MIDMAR MILE 2015

 

My name is Hentie Nortjé.  I am living and working in Pretoria since 1988.  I have been blind since birth.  I have been blessed in many a way since my childhood as a disabled person and am I therefore always aware of the numerous difficulties some children are faced with in our wonderful country on a daily basis. 

 

I am a practicing attorney, a co-partner of a guesthouse in Lynnwood and also a DA councillor in the City of Tshwane Metro.  As a councillor, I am currently part of the DA's Mamelodi constituency.  It was through my activities in this constituency that I have met with the principal of the Pula-Difate Primary School, situated in Mamelodi-East.

 

I was highly motivated by the positive attitude of the principal, teachers, administrative personnel and learners of the Pula-Difate Primary School and would like to make a small contribution to the daily expenses of this institution.

 

We all know that we are currently living in challenging financial times.  As most households, schools and other institutions, the Pula-Difate Primary School also has its own financial challenges.  It is because of this reason that I have decided to swim my 15th consecutive Midmar Mile on the 7th of February 2015 with the goal to collect funds for the Pula-Difate Primary School.
