#PledgeAKay Ultra Trail Challenge

On the 10th December we will attempt to run an Ultra Trail Race. With distances of 35km, 65km & 100km and climbs totalling from 2000m to 4200m this is no easy feat… this is to be done in ONE day, 17 long continuous hours from start to end.

The race traverses sections of Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill, Orangekloof, Llandudno, Hout Bay, the Constantia Winelands, upper slopes of Kirstenbosch Nature Reserve and Devil's Peak which form part of the iconic natural world heritage site and one of the new Natural Seven Wonders of the World.

All three races consist of technical terrain with steep ascents and descents. Weather can vary drastically with near sub-zero temperatures in the early morning on top of Table Mountain to 30 degrees plus during the latter part of the day! You can find out more about the race here.

Amongst us you will find some mildly experienced and some very very inexperienced runners, let alone trail runners. We have practised and we have toiled long hours in the mountain but we don’t want this effort to be wasted or to be seen as a selfish achievement. Our families & friends have missed us.

One of runners is a Cancer survivor, and was a patient at Red Cross Children Hospital (RCCH) during his battle. We are therefore dedicating our effort to the RCCH to assist him in giving back, hoping we can contribute to saving more children’s lives.

So, we invite you to support us by contributing to the Red Cross Children's Hospital. By simply pledging any amount of money per kilometre completed by any one of our runners we intend raising funds for the much needed and expensive equipment required to look after our next generation.

Practise and hard work can only get us ready, but your support will give us the desire to complete it.
