As part of a Youth Day Initiative, Bishops Rugby teams will embark on a 24hour cycle challenge to raise funds for the VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy in Langa.

Team Includes : Rupert Holmes, Shariq Davids, Sean Craig, Abel Mokwena, and Nicholas Steinhagen.

Each team will be captained by an international / successful Old Diocesan player.  

Francois Louw – He is probably Bishops’ greatest ever Springbok after a magnificent career. Louw earned 76 Test caps for the Springboks and played in three Rugby World Cups (2011, 2015, 2019). He played a key role in the Springboks’ 2019 World Cup winning campaign. He equalled Robbie Fleck’s Bishops record of 10 tries for the Boks – an impressive feat from loose forward. During his glittering Springbok career, Louw won 47 Test matches, a bronze medal at the 2015 World Cup and the 2019 Rugby Championship to go with the 2019 World Cup. After matriculating in 2003, “Flo” played for Maties and then worked his way into the Western Province side in 2006. He represented Western Province and the Stormers until 2010 and then was a stalwart for Bath in the UK from 2011 until his retirement in 2020. “Flo was a real warrior of the back-row,” said Rassie Erasmus.
