For a second year, VUSA Coaches are joining Bishops Boys and Staff will embark on a 24-hour cycle challenge to raise funds for the VUSA Rugby and Learning Academy in Langa.  Bishops has a strong rugby history and OD Rugby International Players will once again come back to support the boys as they embark on this gruelling challenging for a wonderful cause.

Coach : Stuart Abbott

Stuart Abbott – Stuart was a fantastically talented centre who captained the Bishops 1st XV in 1996. After school he moved to the UK to Leicester Tigers. He represented England as a centre in 9 test matches between 2003 and 2006. He scored two test tries in his career, including one in the Rugby World Cup 2003 vs Uruguay. He was part of the English World Cup Winning squad in 2003, playing in three matches. During his career he also played for Northern Free State Griffons, Western Province, the Stormers, London Wasps and the Harlequins. He also represented the SA Under 23 side in the African Cup in 2001. He had a meeting with the then Springbok Coach Rudolf Strauli in 2001 about joining the Bok training squad but he turned it down and chose England. He retired in 2007 due to a shoulder injury.
