I recently became involved with the Midrand SPCA as I would like to give back to my community. The animals are sometimes forgotten and so is the important work that the Midrand SPCA does in our community. 

 

I have had the pleasure of becoming an Ambassador for the Midrand SPCA and I am thrilled at the opportunity to work closely with the team at the Midrand SPCA and do my part in helping as many animals as possible. 

During my time spent with the team, I've learnt so much about the important role that the SPCA plays in our society and without the Midrand SPCA, I don’t know what would become of the many animals that they help on a daily basis. The Midrand SPCA turns no animal away and they believe that all animals, as living creatures, have a value beyond economic measurement and are entitled to legal, moral and ethical consideration and protection. The SPCA investigates all cruelty complaints, does pro-active inspections on chicken farms, pet shops, hawking sites, breeders, coal yards, pet exhibitions and security dogs to name but a few. 

Their 2 Inspectors cover a large area spanning from areas in Tembisa to Midstream, Glen Austin, Blue valley, Waterfall, Kyalami and many many more and they are on call for any animal related emergencies 24/7 a day. Just their monthly fuel expenses accumulate to over R7000! The SPCA is not government funded and rely solely on the public for donations to keep their doors open. Their list of needs is endless and they need a lot of help to make improvements to their facility. The kennels are over 25 years old and they are in desperate need of another vehicle to reach more animals!

They help the poorest of the poor with their outreach program and do educational programs at schools to create awareness amongst our youth on the importance of reporting cruelty and how to care for our animals! The Midrand SPCA needs our help to raise money so that they may continue the work that they do in our society.
