Sixty years ago, a child diagnosed with cancer would almost definitely not survive. Today, kids in America or Europe who get cancer have an 80percent chance of survival. In SA that chance drops to less than 60percent.
Childhood cancer research needs funding to train and set up a dedicated research unit to improve access to targeted therapies.
