Xavier Medical costs

Erica's message to me is that "I want to let you know that God has a purpose indeed with young Xavier and I have not questioned His decision since the day Xavier went into cardiac arrest. When I got the call from the ICU on the 3rd of September they only told me that there's been an emergency with Xavier, but I knew that his heart went to stop without them even telling me. God has prepared me from day 1 for all that's to come and He has not once left my side or Xavier's." 

Ongoing care of Xavier is very expensive, he requires amongst other things 24/7 monitoring, diapers, feeds and equipment to ensure that he is as comfortable as possible. Erica is a small woman and lifting and turning a 20 year old man is very difficult. All of this places a huge financial and emotional strain on a family that has never been well off to begin with. Erica has a full time job, she works from home for a large corporate and in between takes care of Xavier.

Raising funds for the care of Xavier will ensure that this young man is nursed and cared for with dignity and will prevent any further injury or fall out as a result of his current almost vegetative state. It will alleviate the huge physical, emotional and financial strain placed on this family, paying attention to the health of family caregivers is an issue that cannot be neglected.‏ 

All the monies raised will go towards the daily needs and specialised equipment that Xavier needs just to keep him in comfort and prevent any further complications. This includes amongst other things, transfer boards, suction machine, catheter equipment, special feeds and the equipment needed to administer this, wheelchair ramp etc. Although they are on medical aid, only a fraction of what is needed to care for Xavier on an ongoing basis is covered.

Given that there are multiple providers of equipment and services to deal with on an ongoing basis, the best option is to pay the monies directly to Erica.
