Personal message

My name is Ydhan, and I’m 14 years old. I go to St John’s College in Johannesburg and I am in Grade 8.

I am passionate about reading and school in general as I feel that learning something new truly empowers you. Even though I am a young person, I believe that regardless of age I am able to make a huge difference. As a member of the Afrika Tikkun Junior Board, I am now capable of doing truly great things by working together in this team.

The youth of today are tomorrow’s leaders. Afrika Tikkun is fully committed to making sure that every child can reach their true potential. In order to achieve this, we need to replace our very old bakkie at our Alexandra centre. The old bakkie has over 600 000 KMs in mileage, which is almost as much as going around the world 15 times! A new bakkie will allow us to help every child grow from learner to leader, by delivering food parcels and supplying our centre with essential resources. This new bakkie will deliver nutritional food, family support services, and educational material to children and families in disadvantaged communities.

Donate today, and while it may be just one bakkie, you are helping hundreds of young children thrive.

Charity Default Logo

Afrika Tikkun (AT) was founded in 1994 with the goal of developing and uplifting young people in disadvantaged communities resident in the Republic of South Africa. With like-minded partners, Afrika Tikkun aims to end child poverty and youth unemployment through a holistic approach that begins in early childhood and ends with productive adults accessing the economy. Our approach provides all-inclusive care (nutrition, health and social) services and helps SA’s youth achieve success with a model called Cradle-to-Career 360°, which has earned Afrika Tikkun recognition for being one of the most impactful organisations in South Africa. We operate from four centres in Gauteng and one in Cape Town.
