Personal message
was born in a little town called Reitz in the Eastern Free State. I went to school in Bethlehem in the Free State. I did sport my whole life and for a big portion, at a competitive level. I started cycling in 2013 and it changed my life.
I initially lost about 20kg’s in body weight up to 2019 and then lost a further 16kgs to the point where I am now. I had a life-changing experience in 2018 and this also impacted my own kids.
I was in a very bad space but God got me through it and I decided that I want to dedicate my life to making a difference in the world. Today I am a certified life coach helping others to change their lives. I have a very soft spot for kids due to the fact that I am a very passionate and involved father myself.
The reason why I want to get involved with Home of Hope is that I wasted most of my life due to alcohol and I believe that I can use my story to help others especially children whose lives were also in some way impacted by alcohol.
Ryan is my little buddy and he became a part of Home of Hope’s family in 2019. He is 9 years old and has Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, which is permanent brain damage as a result of prenatal exposure to alcohol.
When Ryan first joined Home of Hope he was all alone and came from a neglectful and traumatic background but now he loves living with so many brothers and sisters. I am so happy to make a difference in Ryan’s life and raise money for his education and livelihood.
The money raised will go towards the daily care of Ryan and provide him with specialised care and special education for his unique needs and so provide a better future for him.

Home of Hope

Home of Hope was started in 2005, and we are an NPO that cares for abandoned and abused children and children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD – permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol). We are a registered place of safety and we have 19 children in our long term community based foster care.
The organisation also caters for the special educational needs of children suffering from FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and neurological challenges, in our Amathemba Learning Centre. There are currently 37 children at our Amathemba Learning Centre.
