Support Needed for University Education

 

Hi everyone,

My name is Viola Mhaka, a 21-year-old from the small town of Mashava in Masvingo province, Zimbabwe.

I successfully completed high school in (2020) and am currently in my third year at the University of Zimbabwe, pursuing a law degree. I’m really enjoying my studies and hope to one day become an advocate for women and children who have been marginalised.

However, there has been a financial strain on my family to cover my university expenses, particularly on my mother who works as a domestic helper. Since I started, student fees have been doubling every semester, making it very challenging for some to afford.

I would like to humbly request assistance for the remaining (18 months) of my degree, to relieve some of the burden on my family. It would also assist me to focus on finishing. As a result of the frequent fee and inflationary changes it is quite difficult to project exactly how much will be needed, but at current rates they are as follows:

• Tuition fees: USD530 x 3 semesters = USD1590
• Accommodation fees: USD620 x 3 semesters = USD1850
• Food expenses: USD200 x 3 semesters = USD600
• Total = USD4040

Your support will not only enable me to achieve my academic goals but will also contribute to creating a brighter future for myself and inspire others to follow suit. If the amount raised is higher than this total, I would like to use it to assist another struggling student.
