Become part of co-creating the Roots & Fins Writer's Den!

The Roots & Fins Writer’s Retreat is a living process underway to create a space of creativity, refuge and restoration in Betty’s Bay. You are invited to support this wonderful little home and writer’s hub, that is also a place of healing and nature connecting. Someone once said in one of our circles: the true remedy to heal from violence and separation is connection and creativity. Roots & Fins will be a place for the re-weaving of the human soul – to literally be “in touch” again. 

The place is nestled against the Silversands Dunes and Brodie’s Link Nature Reserve that links Betty’s to Pringle Bay. Out the door you walk across the dunes to immerse in the sea in less than 15 minutes. Silversands Beach, as the name suggests, is a vast, wild and wondrous, often empty stretch of coastline offering delicious swims and walks along the beach and the small peninsula, or via the dunes and nature reserve over to nearby Pringle Bay.

The Roots & Fins impulse is to be in relationship with nature, self, soul and community – it is an invitation that invites you to rediscover your true essence and sense of purpose at this time. We have this one life here on earth to create that which serves and heals – us, our families, our communities, our ancestors and descendants – restoring health and wholeness with all our relations.

Here is the space to write that song, that book, that poetry collection that has been waiting inside you. Wander under the night skies, awaken to the gifts of plants in the fynbos, meeting and respecting the animals that share this place.

This is also a place to heal relationships between women and men, to find old and new friends, and to spend time in circle, prayer and ceremony. It is a meeting place between the generations and a space for exploring true peace (which is love in action).

Become part of this creative collective by offering your support in the creation phase of Roots & Fins, as it is currently rising from the ground in 3D. Your contribution will allow the Writer’s Retreat to become fully manifest, a process which began some years ago with dreaming and visioning, and since 15 January 2024 is now in the building & construction phase and needs your financial contribution to come to full fruition – inside and out.

I look forward to cocreating a space that serves our families, friends, colleagues, co-weavers and future connections. In circle we will invite the future into being, and during alonetimes here, we will find that way back (and forward) into ourselves.
