Personal message

Dear Afrika Burn community, 

It is almost time to come together in the desert again and as always we are raising the funds needed to provide 6 days of beautiful music and togetherness at Afrika Burn and bring a selection of finest artists from the Bridges for Music community. 

Concept: 
This year we will be building a Ubuhlanti/Kraal which is also our camp name, a traditional African ceremonial space, surrounded by 4 informal Shack structures which will be showcasing the different ways that shacks are used in different communities. One of the shacks will be a DJ booth and they will all be built with mostly recycled materials and will represent some of the usual businesses you can find in a township.  The ceremonial circle will be created using tree branches and poles in a circular shape. We aim to bring the township culture closer to the burn and break down some stigmas and cultural misunderstandings around our communities. 

If you danced at and enjoyed our previous stages (You are the Only One) please consider contributing, whether little or lots, to help bring this new stage to life. With top-notch sound system, we will be providing the soundtrack for those magical sunsets and creating a platform for all the artists in the Bridges for Music community. Also expect some special indigeneous ceremonies to kick-off the day… you will be blown away by some of the local artists that will be performing. 

This will only be possible through the collective generosity of all of you, the Afrika Burn community! 

As always, we are thinking of how this contribution can live beyond the burn impacting our communities, so please know that some of the deco and parts of the stage will be installed at the Bridges Academy in Langa building a small legacy from the burn.
