Personal message

Hi again to all of my biggest and to my newest supporters,

I am Timothy Onkgopole Meuwsen, a 21 year old Judoka currently in the South African Senior National Judo Team. As many of you may know, my journey up until now has been nothing short of a miracle. From the start of my judo journey I had always known that eventually something would come from all of the prayers, hard work and dedication shown on and off the mat, and with every day that passes I edge closer and closer to every athlete’s childhood dream, which is to one day make the Olympic Games.

What an amazing year 2023 was, I got to have a taste of what professional judo really is at this year’s World Student Games and Sofia European Open. As preparation towards the 2028 Olympic Games Cycle, my main goal is to push to gain more international experience by taking part in major tournaments (Grand Slams and European Opens) and attending training camps thereafter that are flooded with the best of the best judoka's on the world stage right now.

I need to raise R40 000.00 to fund both my trip to Bulgaria and Georgia. In Bulgaria I’ll be taking part in a 2 week training camp as well as local tournaments which will be in preparation for trials which take place, back on home soil, on the 24th of February 2024. This year I had the opportunity to train with the Bulgarian National Team and I can’t begin to explain how much of a fundamental benefit it was, and improvement it made on my judo as a whole. The money raised will also go towards the next overseas trip thereafter which will be my first Grand Slam as well as a training camp, which will take me to Tbilisi, Georgia from the 22nd to the 24th of March.

There is not one day that goes by that I don’t dream about reaching the top, and beating the odds. Faith and trust in the Lord has taken me this far, and I know that it's only the start of something incredible. Please help me reach my full potential!
