Personal message

Thank you for visiting THE GUNS’ donation page!

We're just a group of everyday lads and ladies with two awesome things in common:
1) We're running the GUN RUN!
2) We think that supporting charities that look after the most vulnerable people in society is not just a good thing to do, but that it’s also a pretty damn cool thing to do.

Between us we've got some cool individual goals for the run:

Nancy: To WIN her age category! (Grandmaster Ladies).  And maybe a set new course record? #WINNING

Karl: FIRST HALF MARATHON EVER! This is also amazing because Karl was very much a non-runner not so long ago! #FIRSTHALFMARATHON

Edward: First Sub 100 minute half marathon - which would be amazing as he only took up running seriously this year! #PROGRESS

Damian: 76 minutes (that’s 3:36 minutes a km). #FLIPTHATSFAST

Leigh: Another sub 2 hour half marathon! #SOFASTTHATHERBOYFRIENDHASTOMAKEEXCUSESNOTTORUN

Kath, Candice and Don: Have fun! #SOFLIPPINGLAZY

As a group we’re simply raising some funds for an amazing organizational called Ikamva Labantu; they work with Early Childhood Development projects as well as programs for the Elderly in the townships around Cape Town.  They’re amazing people doing amazing work in the most amazing city in the world! In South Africa, our two most vulnerable groups of people are young children and older adults. These groups also play a pivotal role in our society – our young children are the future of our country and we want to support them so that they can get the education they need to live successful lives and play a key role in South Africa’s future prosperity. Our older adults make significant practical, financial, social, and emotional contributions to households where whole generations have often been lost due to communicable diseases and unemployed grandparents are raising grandchildren. Help us to help
these vulnerable, valued groups of individuals!

Please support us by clicking the 'donate now' button, throwing some bucks at a good cause and leaving a message of support! No pressure to donate your lottery winnings – every ZAR counts, so even if it’s just a few bucks we’ll be thrilled!  For all donations over R200 donors will recieve a beautifully hand beaded bracelet from Ikamva.

If you’d like to join to join our team please email me at [email protected] or send me a hit on Facebook, including your goal for the Gun Run!  For more info on Ikamva check out their website: http://ikamva.org.za/ or their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/IkamvaLabantu

Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust

Charity Default Logo

In the early 1960s, Helen Lieberman and other courageous activists responded to the unjust conditions of South African Apartheid by setting up survival initiatives in the Western Cape. In 1992, the coordination of these initiatives was formalised and Ikamva Labantu, meaning “Future of The People”, was launched as a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Ikamva Labantu’s work focuses on early childhood development, the well-being of older persons and after-school initiatives that keep children safe and off the streets.
