Personal message
Team Stonehage, represented by Theron Van Wyk and Maruis Slabbert are taking on the challenge to compete in the 2012 Cape Epic to raise funds for Ikamva Labantu; a charity working with communities in South Africa to provide family services, economic improvement, education and skills development.
How your donations will be used:
- R1,500 can support a food garden for a year, which includes training of gardeners and materials (e.g. seeds)
- R2,400 provides pre-schooling and daycare for one child for a year, including clothing, feeding and schooling
- R3,500 per child can go toward running an early childhood development centre, which includes facilities, materials & teacher training
Cape Epic will take place between 25 March – 1 April 2012. The race will cover 780km and include 16,300m of climbing in one prologue and seven stages from Durbanville to Lourenford Wine Estate.
We really appreciate all your support and thank you in advance for any donations.
Invoices and/or tax certificates are available for donators upon request, please contact Jovana at Ikamva Labantu [email protected]

Ikamva Labantu Charitable Trust

In the early 1960s, Helen Lieberman and other courageous activists responded to the unjust conditions of South African Apartheid by setting up survival initiatives in the Western Cape. In 1992, the coordination of these initiatives was formalised and Ikamva Labantu, meaning “Future of The People”, was launched as a non-governmental and non-profit organisation. Ikamva Labantu’s work focuses on early childhood development, the well-being of older persons and after-school initiatives that keep children safe and off the streets.
