Hello supporters

I am Tyrone Ludick, the son of Synette De Lange, and we are a family of four – my parents, my sister, and me. The year 2022 proved to be one of the most challenging periods for our family.

During this time, my mother encountered difficulties with her legs, struggling with impaired blood flow from her feet upwards. Despite numerous visits to doctors, the initial "professional opinion" suggested medication to thin her blood and alleviate the pain. After ten months, my mother's condition worsened, prompting her to seek additional opinions from other medical professionals. The new diagnosis indicated the necessity of surgery to expand the veins in her legs.

Unfortunately, it was too late, and gangrene had set in. As a result, my mother had to undergo the amputation of her foot. Subsequently, during a checkup a week after the operation, it was discovered that the amputated foot was becoming septic. Faced with a critical situation, the doctor presented two options: amputate above or below the knee.

This marked a profound turning point in my mother's life. We proceeded with the amputation above the knee, as there seemed to be no alternative.

A year and a half later, my mother struggles with emotional and mobility challenges.

Everyday activities, once taken for granted, have become obstacles for her. Adding to the difficulties is the fact that my mother lacks medical aid, leading to accumulating medical bills. Urgently, we need to secure a prosthetic leg for her to regain mobility and independence. Recently, I visited her at her residence on a Game Farm outside Jeffreys Bay, where they have been living for two years. It was the first time she experienced the beauty of wildlife and enjoyed sitting around a campfire with her son.

Her emotions and limited mobility had previously prevented her from venturing into these bush camps. Determined to help her overcome these challenges, I loaded her into my vehicle and insisted she join me around the fire that evening. We had one of the most memorable nights, and for those few hours, she was in a better place! (I was overwhelmed with tears trying to write this piece).

I am reaching out to potential donors to assist me in helping my mother. It is crucial to restore her quality of life so she can navigate her surroundings and share in life's experiences with her family.

Our immediate goal is to obtain a prosthetic leg for my mother, either through purchase or donation from a medical specialist. The estimated cost for the prosthetic leg is approximately R50,000 and the subsequent rehabilitation sessions are expected to amount to around R25,000.

Please consider offering your support to help us make a meaningful difference in my mother's life.
Thank you.

Hi all.

I'm Tyrone Ludick, and 2022 was a tough year for my family of four. My mother faced severe leg issues, initially misdiagnosed, leading to the amputation of her foot above the knee due to gangrene. A year and a half later, she's grappling with emotional and mobility challenges, exacerbated by the lack of medical aid and mounting bills.

Recently, I took her to experience the beauty of wildlife on a Game Farm, a rare outing due to her limited mobility. Determined to improve her quality of life, I'm seeking assistance to secure a prosthetic leg, costing around R50,000, and subsequent rehabilitation sessions estimated at R25,000.

I'm reaching out to potential donors to help us restore my mother's mobility and independence, enabling her to share in life's experiences with her family.

Your support can make a meaningful difference in her life.
