Last year I was overweight, my form of exercise was basically whatever I managed to do from my desk and I was a work-a-holic.

One day, I decided to change that.

Fast forward 1 year and I am no longer overweight, I exercise nearly every day and I reprioritised my life.

Getting into exercise and a healthier lifestyle prompted me to challenge myself and try new things and give back where I could because I have the ability to do just that without any hindrances or obstacles.

Doing all of this has put a bounce in my step and a smile on my face. There isn't a day that goes by where I don't make the effort to smile at a stranger and see how that simple act can have such a positive change.

So why am I telling you all this?

Well I've decided to give myself the biggest challenge yet and combine my love of smiles by giving children the opportunity to do the same.

The Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is a road race that is just under 100km and takes us through the streets of Johannesburg, up mean hills and around what seems like never ending suburbs.

For the race you can nominate to ride for a charity and raise much needed funds. Obviously my natural choice was The Smile Foundation :-)

The Smile Foundation is a South African non-governmental organisation with a holistic health care vision for children with facial conditions. The Smile Foundation together with the country’s Academic Hospitals work together to put the smile back onto our children’s faces with free corrective facial reconstructive surgery and treatments.
