Personal message
We are a group of students in our second year of studying Disaster Management at Stenden South Africa.
As part of our curriculum at this institution, we have been asked to raise funds to purchase Meals-Ready to Eat (MRE) for the first responders in our area.
The reason for this is the following: We as students have been taught to think ahead, and if a disaster strikes, it becomes difficult and unreliable to obtain food. We then also learn that our first responders then tend to have to work lengthy hours to make sure the rest of the population involved is safe, and in doing so they often don't have time to cook meals for themselves.
That is where the MRE's come into play. They are long lasting and easy to make packages of food that can then be used to give to these first responders when a disaster hits, they will be able to have food to sustain them.
Please we are trying to do this for a good cause.
