Personal message

Dear Friends and Family,

I will be undertaking a long walk on 31 August 2023 and finishing on 6 September 2023 in honour of my granddaughter #MightyMack. 

The reason for taking on this challenge is that I would like to contribute in some way to the education and research around childhood cancer. 

Having witnessed this tough, and ongoing, journey made me realize just how tough it is for both the parents and their children. 

I have decided to walk a total of a 150km, starting in Frankfort all the way to the picturesque Clarens. The reason for this distance is that MacKenzie initially spent a total of 150 consecutive days in hospital.

I want to honour her bravery and fight by challenging myself and raise money for Rainbows and Smiles so they may continue to make a difference in the lives of children living with cancer.

On 26 August 2023 we will be hosting a challenge to all RWFL members to kickstart this event. #MightyMac will hopefully make her appearance to encourage everyone to go big and never give up!

The mission of Rainbows and Smiles is to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer. In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection.
