SHAYLA SWIMS OCEANS 8
With only 2 weeks to go, Grade 9 Maris Stella pupil Shayla Harvey will be swimming the Oceans 8 charity swim hosted on the 16th to 18th of June to raise money that will support the following charities:

Caversham Education Institute
C.R.O.W.
Game Rangers Association of Africa
International Sailors’ Society of South Africa
Kerr House
Liberty NPO
One Planet S.A.
Wildlife ACT
Shayla loves the outdoors, animals and is a multi sports lover. Ensuring that we have clean rivers that feed into our oceans is critical in preserving our water sources, animal life and continued enjoyment of our beautiful ocean.
These charities have an influence on education, environment, community development and upliftment for those most in need.

The Oceans 8 Charity Swim is South Africa's first warm water ocean swim of its kind, exclusively for charity.
It has been started by 5 charities (DUCT, NSRI, Project Rhino, Singakwenza and WILDTRUST) to provide a reliable and sustainable flow of funding to deserving non-profits with a footprint in KwaZulu-Natal, to support their work and allow them to continue to engage in and deliver on projects which have an impact and influence on education, environment, community development and upliftment for those most in need.
The inaugural Oceans 8 Charity Swim will be held on the 16th & 17th (18th) June 2023 at the Durban Undersea Club, with the 5 founding charities benefitting from the 8 Mile swimmers, and 9 invitational charities benefitting from the 1 Mile swimmers.
