Personal message
I will be running the 2012 Comrades Marathon in memory of Roan Dales who lost his life at 5 years old to Cancer. His family was and is still greatly supported by the Rainbows and Smiles Foundation who give passionate assistance to families going through a childhood illness. They work tirelessly and selflessly to promote childhood cancer awareness.
I am not going to win comrades, and I'm just hoping to finish, but I didn't want it to be just a personal accomplishment for me but to rather make this Comrades as a picture of our lives-that we all have a personal race to run but we must not waste any opportunity to share it with others, to live passionately for God and others, and to make every moment count. I'm sure on Comrades day the crowd is going to be a huge motivation in helping me along, and this is an apt picture of what Rainbows and Smiles do for families running their own race of a child with a dreaded disease. This is why I am running for Rainbows and Smiles.

The mission of Rainbows and Smiles is to provide emotional, social and financial support to families and caregivers in need when a child or children of that family is diagnosed with a life threatening illness such as cancer. In addition, Rainbows and Smiles encourage childhood cancer awareness to educate in the hope of promoting early detection.
