Personal message
I am originally from the Johannesburg suburbs and moved to Cape Town in 2004.
I am an engineer with my own small company. I have spent a lot of time on the bike thinking about giving back somehow, and then I stumbled upon Home of Hope by chance.
This is an ideal platform to raise awareness, funds, and my fitness level. Being able to help where I can in whichever capacity I can is something I feel strongly about.
My little buddy is Fezeka. She has been with Home of Hope since she was a toddler. She faces many challenges due to the abuse and neglect she experienced when she was with her biological mother.
She is a sweet, kind and independent young girl. Fezeka was in a mainstream school; however, the pressure and pace of the academics being taught were too much, resulting in her moving to Amathemba Special Needs School, where she now receives individual learning.
Reaching my target will mean creating awareness and assisting Home of Hope in caring for a child in need.
I would like to raise R12 000.00 to help Home of Hope care for Fezeka and assist her with her educational needs.

Home of Hope was started in 2005, and we are an NPO that cares for abandoned and abused children and children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD – permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol). The organisation also caters for the special educational needs of children suffering from FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and neurological challenges, in our Amathemba Learning Centre. There are currently 37 children at our Amathemba Learning Centre.
