Please assist Baby Peter Lotter 
He is suffering from a serious heart condition, Peter was born with 3 holes in his heart and a pulmonary valve defect. 
Normally babies with this condition will turn blue at birth and pass, but by some miracle baby Peter decided to be the little fighter he is. 
 
Mommy Marjuan took Peter to the hospital on the 17th of December for fever and was told he had bronchitis and needed to be admitted ,and after the 2nd doctor examined him , they were informed of his heart condition. This came as a very big shock. As they thought he was just a small baby.
 
After the pediatric doctor examined him he started him on heart medication , the Pediatric cardiologist was then informed about him and a date was set to see the cardiologist. The heart medication was then stopped. Mommy was shocked as she went for a fever and all of a sudden she has the little fighter with a broken heart.
 
After mommy and daddy went to see the professor with baby Peter , the professor explained that on the ECO he can see 2 holes and the pulmonary valve is a problem the heart muscle is also enlarged and the left heart chambers as well as they have to work extra hard to supply the body with the necessary blood. Because his heart is pumping oxygenated blood back into the heart one defect is saving him from drowning in his lungs and that is the defected pulmonary valve. 
 
The professor said that they must not be worried and will be called within 2 weeks for an open heart surgery. . . Three days later Mommy got a call from the professor stating that he has consulted with the team of doctors that operate on these little babies and it is not possible to assist Baby Peter or operate on him.  As one can Imagine this DEVASTATED the parents of Baby Peter. 
 
If this was a normal trilogy of fallot they would have been able to assist him but unfortunately this is much more complex and that surgery is too risky for Baby Peter as the big hole is in between the 4 heart chambers and not accessible. After mommy went to see a doctor as she was not willing to give up on her son where he explained the situation to her, 
 
Baby Peter has 3 holes in his heart and a narrowing of the pulmonary valve, the big hole that is making all the problems , making the heart weaker , is  not accessible as they will have to remove his heaart remove all the big arteries and cut the heart open and the chances of them putting everything back is not possible, the heart has made a path way for Baby peter to survive on his own the problem is there is one hole that can close on his own as it is in the muscle and the problem with that is it will change this hole path the heart has made for itself. 
 
Baby Peter is starting to show signs of his struggle , as he is very small , he is now 7 months old and weighs 6 KG , he sweats profusely when he drinks , as it is difficult as his heart is taking all the energy to keep beating , he can only drink 100 ml at a time.  This is one of the signs they were told to look out for as the heart starts to struggle. 
 
The doctor has however told the mommy and Daddy that Peter is not allowed to get sick as his struggle will have much more consequences that a normal child and he will be admitted to NICU where a normal child would get meds and go home , he doesn't have the energy to fight off illnesses as he needs all of it to keep the heart beating , one of these illnesses in our area that is of great risk to Peter is the RSV virus , the doctor then told Mommy that it would be life saving if Peter can get the Injection to prevent this virus in our area.
 
The doctors can not help baby peter and they will check up on his hearts progressing as that is all they can do on the 18th May 2024
 
This is where we are asking for help , Peter should have received his first injection on the 1st of Feb 2024 but the medical aid will not pay it , one Ampule of Synagis  100 mg that he must get for his weight is R15 219.92 and he must get four of them , that brings us to a total of R60 879.68.
