Since I didn't ride last year because when I woke up it was too 'windy' (it ended up been the fastest year ever on the ride) and my excuse for not riding this year has fallen away (I said I would only ride if it went over Chappies) I have decided I need some motivation to ensure I get in the saddle came Sunday 8 March. Adding to that this should be my ‘unlucky’ 13th ride so help me make the big day count.

Now more than ever the good people at charities like Starfish require our help, with the doom and gloom of the credit crunch hitting hard overseas many former donors no longer have the capacity to support these good causes. All I am asking is if you can spare R109 (R1/km) which is give or take a case of beer (well if you a snob and drink Peroni and Heineken its cheaper...) I would need 100 people to donate. This does not by any means mean you have to donate R109, please feel free to donate whatever you feel you can (more if you can) but please take into account whatever you donate will still incur bank charges on their end...

For those of you who don't know Starfish is making a significant impact in 109 communities across all 9 of South Africa's provinces, working through 120 non-governmental and community-based organizations. Starfish funding enables these organizations to care for and support over 36,000 children who are effected in some way by HIV, it takes R300 to care for one child for a month.
