Personal message

I am not a breast cancer survivor, but my grand-mother died from breast cancer and my god-mother is a breast cancer survivor.  It wasn't until a friend showed me the scar on her chest from a radical mastectomy that it really hit me what being diagnosed with breast cancer means.

Breast cancer is a family and community affair.  As family and friends of survivors, we can only hope NEVER to have to face the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual battles that these people have to deal with - because breast cancer affects men too!

I decided to particpate in the fund-raising to help the Breast Health Foundation raise awareness of breast cancer (the international benchmark is that one out of every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer), encourage people to go for regular check-ups and to raise awareness of the fact that breast cancer affects everyone: the patient, their family and their friends (besides the fact that i really need to lose weight and will benefit from the training program).

Breast cancer awareness, diagnosis, treatment and survival is a team effort.  I'm proud to be a member of the (support) team.
