The Swimmer:
I try to fill my life with as many different experiences as possible, but one thing that has always been with me is my love of the sea. I love anything to do with water: swimming, surfing, wakeboarding, diving, anything really. I always try to challenge myself and do something completely different at least once a year, whether it’s racing tuk-tuks around Sri Lanka or climbing in the Alps, and I always aim to have a strong charity angle to these adventures.
Now I have this incredible opportunity to join Madswimmer and use that for a good cause, and I am honoured to be joining the team and I hope you follow us on the Jordan-Israel Dead Sea Swim.
The Cause:
This will be my first Madswimmer swim and by FAR the longest swim I’ve ever done. So it’s a huge challenge, but at the same time for such a worthy cause, so please help me raise some money for this! Any amount will be appreciated. The money goes to various charities that support the education, health and development of underprivileged children in South Africa. Charities include Just The One Foundation, Children’s hospital Trust, and more great organizations. See more about the Madswimmer organisations here.
All donations go directly to charity, all expenses are covered by the team.
The Challenge:
The team will be crossing the Dead Sea at its widest point, 16km across this super-saline lake (up to 35% salinity, 10 times the normal sea!). Not to mention the extra difficult buoyancy and viscosity... all at a nice and low 500m below sea level… Not exactly your average dip in the pool!
And let’s just say my training regime has not been exactly phenomenal. 16km is looking daunting
So give generously. I can assure you of one thing, I will be working EXTREMELY hard for your money!
