I started to cycle in March 2021 as an alternative to running and a solidarity thing with an injured friend. Little did I know that I would cycle 947. 

I used the race entry for motivation to get me to train and do my first cycling race, where I will be riding for Rainbows and Smiles to raise funds and awareness for kids fighting cancer.

Rainbows and Smiles is a childhood cancer foundation close to her heart. If our brave little fighters can face hardship each day, then keep those legs pumping as admiration for their strength. 

Every year in South Africa, almost 1000 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our socio-economic challenges, and generally poor awareness of early warning signs of childhood cancer, means that many of these children are diagnosed very late into their illness. As a result, they face a difficult battle.

Team Rainbows Riders is on a mission to raise awareness and funds for children fighting cancer.

Rainbows and Smiles is a community-based, charitable foundation dedicated to providing emotional, social and financial support to children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening illness and their families and caregivers.

The government does not fund rainbows and Smiles, and we rely on the generosity of our supporters and the passion of our volunteers to enable us to do the work we do.
