Personal message
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This year, I have decided to Be A Sport and raise funds for MaAfrika Tikkun by cycling in the 94.7 challenge .We are targeting to raise one million rands in order to promote and develop sport offerings in previously disadvantaged areas.
Mncedisi background
My name is Mncedisi Innocent Skosana, 22 years old and an African male. I was born in Mpumalanga Bethal in South Africa. At a tender age of 15 years, my biological mother passed away in 2003 while I was in school at Ennerdale Secondary School doing grade 9.
Fortunately later in 2003, by the GRACE of GOD I met Rita Mkwanazi who is my Best and Greatest Lovable parent, the one I will never ever forget in my life. She is my mother and she changed my life after all that had happened, I LOVE her very much.
I completed my matric in 2007, all my schooling career; I knew that I wanted to become a commercial airline pilot someday. Unfortunately when I eventually completed my matric did not have the finances for the tertiary education & my dream of becoming a pilot slowly seemed to fade away. Then in 2008 I took 6months to upgrade my subjects especially Physical science and Mathematics.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Luckily in July 2008, I honored an invitation to celebrate World Youth Day at Melbourne and Sydney in Australia, went as a participant representing South Africa. This is one of my greatest achievements & I felt proud of myself to fly to Australia .I was so excited seeing myself inside the Aeroplane, having such a good opportunity had never happened before, then I told myself that one day I’ll become a pilot.
Also in October 2008,I honored an invitation by family friends to visit the Netherlands in Holland, that was my second opportunity to fly, and told myself that nothing is impossible it’s finances only.
On the 7th April 2009, I joined MaAfrika Tikkun to do a learnership programme in Orange Farm via Better Best. I was persuaded by my mother to also pursue the learnership so that I could learn more. In the beginning I was not interested, but I thank my mother and MaAfrika Tikkun because in the end I successfully learned and achieved a lot about Child and Youth Care Work. I am now a Youth Intern, working with children.
MaAfrika Tikkun has taught me to become a child and youth care worker. I’m doing Life Skills with younger children, motivate, facilitate and explain to them how to communicate with other people. In MaAfrika Tikkun I managed to meet with a sports manager by the name of Thomas Taole, who is coaching us as youth interns on how to run sports programmes with kids and to do some activities with them.
Last year 2009 November I got an opportunity to take part in the momentum 94.7 cycle challenge. It was the first time in my life to participate in such a challenge. I became one of the young cyclist for MaAfrika Tikkun participating in the race, meant hard work and intensive training. I enjoyed and finished my task. Now in 2010 we have another opportunity to take part in the momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge. I feel excited and am preparing myself to take the challenge head on. I wish to educate the Arekopaneng children that I work with to take the challenge as well so they can have a better and healthy future. That’s my goal. Cycling helps me to keep healthy.
Please support me in this awesome challenge!

Afrika Tikkun

Afrika Tikkun (AT) was founded in 1994 with the goal of developing and uplifting young people in disadvantaged communities resident in the Republic of South Africa. With like-minded partners, Afrika Tikkun aims to end child poverty and youth unemployment through a holistic approach that begins in early childhood and ends with productive adults accessing the economy. Our approach provides all-inclusive care (nutrition, health and social) services and helps SA’s youth achieve success with a model called Cradle-to-Career 360°, which has earned Afrika Tikkun recognition for being one of the most impactful organisations in South Africa. We operate from four centres in Gauteng and one in Cape Town.
