We bought our first horse at the end of last year. Butterfly Beauty is an off the track thoroughbred mare. She is turning 5 years old this year. As first-time horse owners we were prepared to cover any vet bills, but things took a quick turn when she got seriously injured. She was kicked by another horse in her paddock. On top of this she got an ulcer in her eye caused by a piece of grass. The vet said that she had never seen an ulcer this big, and she was put on rest for 3 weeks. After injuring her hock, we decided that it would be best to get the vet to check it out. After an inconclusive x-ray we now need to send her to Vetscape for an ultrasound. After paying R 10 500 for her ulcer treatment, first round of hock treatment and x-ray we have nothing left and we still have no answers. She will go for an ultrasound on Monday. We hate to ask for help but she has left us with no choice. Please consider helping us the get our baby girl feeling like herself again. All funds will be used towards her injuries and treatments.
