Marang House

Marang House exists to provide care and support for rural children who require hospital treatment and who are in need of constant supervision and medical care. Marang houses up to 20 children and facilitates their hospital transport needs while providing accommodation and support. Children suffering from cancer, burns, diabetes, cerebral palsy, heart and kidney diseases receive care and attention from a dedicated and comitted staff of trained care.

Marang House, founded by the late Dr Pieter Ernst aims to provide children affected by chronic illnesses, with a stable home-environment they need. Situatedin Northcliff in a high-socio economic area, Marang House has the capacity to accommodate 12 children in the home at one time.

Marang House provides children with fulltime nursing staff, a hygienic environment, balanced diets and everyday visits to hospital for treatment, they also help to ensure that each child’s education continues, but most of all with recovering, emotional care and the opportunity to continue with their development and maturity. In addition to ensuring that these afflicted children are offered the required medical monitoring and emotional support, Marang House also helps alleviate hospital capacity constraints by freeing up beds for more urgent medical attention, while their children recover or await further treatment.

Marang House has successfully offered a home to recuperate, learn and play for more than 100 children during its many years in operation. Marang House has celebrated the successful recovery of more than 35 children who are now positively contributing to their communities and pursuing their dreams. Marang House is a registered non-profit organization and for more information please visit the website at www.maranghouse.org
