Madswimmer is a South African registered non-profit charity organisation that hosts extreme swims in South Africa, Africa, as well as globally to raise funds for children’s charities.


On 7 & 8 December a group of 11 open water swimmers will attempt record-breaking swims along the Bushmans and Kariega rivers at Kent-on-Sea to raise funds for local children’s charities.  The Double River Swim Challenge will entail a 26km swim along the Bushmans River from the mouth up to Hunters Lodge Jetty on Saturday 7 December and a 17km swim along the Kariega River from the mouth to Poor Man’s Game Drive bridge on Sunday 8 December

Our Charity for the DRS is Nokuthula Get’s Swimming with B’SwimSafe.

Drowning is a leading cause of accidental death in children with special needs.  Learning to swim is the only way to prevent drowning.The B Swim Safe programme was developed with the single focus of saving children’s lives.

“Our vision is to give children this incredible skill and their families peace of mind.”

B’s Swim School has been in operation since 2005.
Founder and owner, Brendan Varrie  has a lifelong background in aquatics, and after spending a number of years in the learn-to-swim arena, it became clear to him that there is a desperate need to highlight Infant and child safety in and around water.” ‘We believe that it should not take longer than six weeks for children to learn to swim and pick up the necessary skills that could ultimately end up saving their lives.”Through daily attendance, our structured approach builds the confidence of the child slowly and steadily. The B Swim Safe programme is designed to teach water safety skills and the ability to swim with the correct body position in a very short space of time.
