Langebaan. The most popular origin of the name Langebaan is that the Dutch seafarers named it after the long strip ("Lange Baan") of calm water formed by the Lagoon. The lagoon is not a freshwater lagoon, but it is a saltwater lagoon - which makes it extremely unique. The mild climate and protected waters of the lagoon make Langebaan popular for sailing, kayaking, kitesurfing and fishing and swimming
On 10 February 2024, the MADSWIMMERS in conjuction with & logistically supported by Big Bay Events will be attempting another extreme open water swim - in Langebaan, South Africa where they will be swimming a grueling 17km, 12km, and 7km to raise much-needed funds for impoverished children in SA.
We are supporting Feed The Need, a non-profit organization with a mission close to our hearts -ensuring that every child has access to a healthy meal and the support they need to thrive. www.feedtheneed.co.za. Feed The Need was born out of a simple yet profound idea - to feed the kids of Langebaan Primary School on a weekly basis.
Any amount donated no matter how small, will make a big difference in the lives of the children in SA.
