My fiancé is a hard working professional trainer and EMS trainer at Body20. His AC joint was dislocated whilst playing rugby, and was dislocated to the extent that the only way in which we can repair the damage is by getting the operation. We rushed to the nearest state hospital directly after the injury occurred, but unfortunately had to wait 7,5 hours to be assisted. Once assisted they told him it will heal by itself, but the pain was unbearable. I took him to a private hospital where they took new x-rays and had him on a drip for pain. We were then referred to a orthopedic surgeon to asses the level of damage caused by the injury. The orthopedic surgeon saw him today, and we were told the degree in which the AC dislocated can only be fixed by an operation. Our expenses (which is excluded from the donation) thus far was as follow; R90 fo admission to the state hospital for assistance in their emergency room. R1059.00 for the new x-rays taken at Wilgers Hospital, R820 for the admission to their emergency room. The medication for pain prescribed was R377 and the consultation at the Orthopedic surgeon was R950. We are still awaiting the bill for the sling provided to him by Wilgers Hospital along with the costs for the drip and pain meds given to him in Wilgers Hopsital emergency room.

He is a "right hand man" as the orthopedic surgeon called it, as he uses his right hand for everything and this injury does not only impact his every day life, but also his work and income. The surgeon that will do the procedure is doctor R Erasmus and his team. The operation is scheduled for 28 February 2024 at Pretoria East Hospital and will be move to 06 March 2024, should we not raise enough for at least the admission fee.
