Personal message

Your smile is your personalised greeting card to everyone you meet. And for many, a child’s smile is nothing short of a ray of sunshine, rivalled only by the sound of their laughter.

 

Sadly this is not the case for everyone. Many children are in need of surgery for treatable facial anomalies such as cleft lip, cleft palate, nose and ear conditions, facial paralysis (Moebius Syndrome), burn wounds and craniofacial abnormalities. However, without the financial resources to assist their children, the possibility of surgery is completely unattainable for many parents.

 

This is why I am riding the 2017 Telkom 947 Cycle Challenge in support of the Smile Foundation, a South African non-governmental organisation with a comprehensive health care vision for children living with facial conditions.

 

Together with seven of South Africa’s Academic Hospitals, Smile Foundation strives to put the smile back onto children’s faces with corrective facial reconstructive surgery and treatments. In addition they aim to positively increase the quality of life for South Africa’s disadvantaged families by encouraging, informing and educating the parents throughout the process.

 

I encourage everyone to make a donation to help make a difference in the lives of these children and their families.
