I am Karabo Dinake, 21 years old from South Africa.
I have been accepted into Bachelor of Health Sciences Honours in Psychology
which should be a moment of celebration and joy after going through a rigorous process yet finances threaten my chances of being fully registered and possibly studying this degree.
I have R15 816 Oustanding fees from 2023 that needs to be settled before I could fully register, R 11 810 Registration fee I have to pay before 9th of February ,need R2 380 for textbook money for first semester and R6000 for a deposit at an accommodation making the Total amount R36 006. I have applied for certain bursaries which haven’t replied yet, hence currently do not have funds for tuition and other expenses yet focusing on immediate hurdles.
The total amount including other immediate hurdles is: R 40 000.
I recently completed my BA in Behavioural Sciences with Sociology and Psychology at the North-West University with an astounding academic record – Cum Laude, 20 distinctions out of 28 modules, and a 3.750 GPA. Golden Key International Honours Society acknowledges my dedication, placing me within the top 15% of my class.
Last December, I was chosen from 6000 applicants consisting of South African students from higher institutions as one of the DHL Gradstar Top 10, this led to earning recognition in Mail & Guardian and Nexmedia.
Any amount would make a difference, there isn’t an amount too small, it could change a life. R1 contribution by 40 000 people is R40 000 which will make a big difference. Like what Desmond Tutu once said ‘’ We are who we are because of others’’ -Ubuntu. I am the person I am today by the help of many I have met along the way in my life, none of my achievements I hold are by my strength alone. If you also can please share and engage, that will also help
