Personal message
Wollies has always been an organisation close to my heart! I have been involved for a number of years in donations, dog walking and raising a litter of 6 puppies who's parents were poisoned (with the help of my animal loving family of course). Wollies main aim is to help curb the overpopulation of stray animals in South Africa through their sterilisation project. They also rescue abandoned animals and help find them a loving home by doing interviews and home visits to ensure the animals are well taken care of.
Wollies is located in Pretoria North and can always use help with donations of food and blankets for the dogs and cats as well as assistance towards their operating costs and vet bills. So for my birthday this year I would like to raise money towards this worthy cause!
In 2003 Wollies Animal Project was established with the specific goal in mind, to assist people in disadvantaged areas, who could not afford the normal sterilisation rates. They were fortunate enough to find a vet who reduced their rates to make it more affordable for the community. To date, they have helped sterilise more than 1000 animals a year.
But they are not just involved in sterilisation, they are now involved "hands on" with the rescue of abandoned animals. Unfortunately they do not have the facilities to be able to accommodate those rescued animals, so they try their utmost best to find and place them in foster care until a committed loving family is found for them.
