I am Jade De Jager, eldest cousin to Jamie. All funds raised will go towards medical costs, lifelong medication and transportation to & from hospital. 
 
Jamie Trevor Smith, born on May 23rd, 2003, is bravely battling leukemia, but he can't do it alone. At just 19 years old, Jamie's life has been turned upside down by this devastating disease, and he urgently needs your help.
 
Jamie's journey with leukemia began in March 2023 when he fell ill unexpectedly. After enduring weeks of uncertainty, he received the heartbreaking diagnosis on April 14th, 2023, just five weeks before his 20th birthday. Tragically, Jamie lost his beloved father to multiple heart attacks on July 22nd, 2023, leaving him and his family reeling from the loss of their father and the main provider in the home.
 
Jamies mother, who is now his primary caregiver, is unemployed to ensure Jamie receives the round-the-clock care he needs. With a younger brother in grade 9 who is a 100% bone marrow match, Jamie's hope for a cure lies in achieving remission to undergo the transplant. However, despite enduring 7 bone marrow biopsies, approximately 60 blood transfusions, and 50 platelet transfusions, Jamie has yet to achieve remission.
 
Now, Jamie faces a critical relapse, with his cancer increasing from 10% to a staggering 80% blast. Since January 8th, 2024, Jamie has been hospitalised, enduring countless treatments and procedures in his fight against leukemia. His only chance for survival is a bone marrow transplant, which comes with a hefty price tag of R450,000.
 
Despite the challenges he faces, Jamie remains resilient and hopeful, with dreams of pursuing his passion for special effects makeup. With your support, we can help Jamie cover the costs of his medical bills, transportation for his mother to visit him daily, and essential necessities during this challenging time.
