I'm Lara, a first year student and my sister Careece just finished matric.
My Father Jacques Bekker has had a strike of bad luck being in an accident and having a heart attack all in a month. Jacques is a single dad, and an estate agent in Middelburg. Throughout the Covid pandemic estate agents could not work and therefore had no income, because of they work on commission. Which therefore has set him back on life.
On his way home from work in November a driver swerved in front of him leaving him to turn is steering wheel to the left to prevent the accident. The driver of the other vehicle speed off and left my Father on the curb of the road with his car having so much damage he couldn't even drive any further. Unfortunately this made it difficult for him to do business as he can't travel and can't afford to have his vehicle fixed either which estimate about R50 000.00 for repairs.
31 December my Father had a heart attack and was admitted to Midmed hospital whereby huge costs were incurred to save his life and stabalise him before transferring him to Ferrobank Provincial hospital as he has no medical aid. The costs for Midmed including X-rays, EKG tests, blood tests escalated to over R50 000.00, and new accounts still come in daily which we were unaware of.
He would never ask anyone for help, this letter is from me and my sister we desperately need help on his behalf because we want to see our Father doing better and getting well. Throughout the years he volunteered by Cansa, Rotary, GTR, Community safety grew. At most of these charity's he was the chair person.
I will gladly share the different bills payable as they are still coming in.
We plead with any donation for us to assist my Father to pay his medical bills and get his vehicle fixed so that he can get better and go to work again to start 2024 better than 2023 closed off with. Unfortunately the doctor told him directly that he is not allowed to work for quite some time and will probably need to go under more procedures. Would also like to ask for living cost assistance, so that bills can be paid.
