EMBRACING HUMAN DIGNITY

We budget for approximately R35,000 monthly on an ongoing basis.

While we are feeding the vulnerable, poverty-stricken individuals and families within our community, we become aware that there is a dire need to supply the same families with hygiene packs. Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. Low income or no income is a reality that restricts people’s options, leaving them caught between being able to pay the rent, eat or be clean.

It is important that all the poor individuals have access to a hygiene kit. It keeps the most vulnerable members of the population safe and sound, slowing down the contagion of epidemics or illnesses thereby relieving the pressure on the healthcare services. Being able to maintain a healthy routine boosts people’s dignity and morale.

Hand and personal care products are hygiene products that help encourage germ control and cleanliness. Facial, body, and hair care products like shampoo and body wash promote healthy hair and skin. A list of items such as  a toothbrush, toothpaste, a bar of soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, shave gel, deodorant, comb, razor, lip balm, facecloth, bandages, hand sanitizer, tissues, nail clippers, hair ties, babies’ nappies, adult nappies and feminine hygiene products (tampons and pads).

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal grooming products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving us caught between being able to heat our homes, pay the rent, eat or be clean. There are other needs. Being criticised for living in an unclean home hurt when you cannot afford household cleaning products.

We have been receiving applications to supply additional beneficiaries with hygiene packs. Donations of R10, R20, R50 or R100, would go a long way to helping us provide these products. Please help us to relieve the emotional anxiety people are enduring and help us to end the crisis in Atlantis, Cape Town with a DONATION for any amount or by signing a monthly debit order. Every cent will be appreciated.
