Hi there,

My name is Amy, and I am going to be joining the troop of swimmers swimming 25km from Italy to Monaco in August.

Having grown up in South Africa as a competitive swimmer I am passionate about both swimming and any initiatives that help those in Africa that are struggling. Improving education for underprivileged children is a crucial aspect in improving their lives and improving the well-being of the country. Madswimmer has given us the opportunity to do something we love to raise money to help a country we love.

Eight years ago I had to stop competitive swimming due to an irreparable injury, but swimming is still one of my favourite things to do! Last year I had a surgery complication that kept me out of the water for a while, and I was worried about being able to swim again. However, despite doctor's initially being unsure, through God's grace I recovered.

This swim is going to be my first big obstacle since the surgery last year and I can't wait to give it a go with the rest of the madswimmers, and most importantly to raise some money for a fantastic organisation that helps educate children who otherwise would not receive an education. Through donation to JTOF, we can help give these children a future.
