The Story of Grace

Rachel Kolisi met 'Grace' while assisting an abused woman called ‘Sharon’ through the Kolisi Foundation in June 2020. Grace took ‘Sharon’ in her care, and we noticed that Grace regularly takes abused women and children in her community under her wing. Even if it means she goes without a place to sleep or a meal to eat. Grace mainly relied on donations and assistance from the public. As the Kolisi Foundation, we wanted to be a part of her story and equip her to continue the excellent work she is doing in her community.

Where is Grace now?

During the past few months, Grace received training and skills development to equip and empower her. It enabled her to understand the system, engage with community leaders and build relationships to support mothers and abused children.

She moved into a new apartment (28 June 2021) to continue serving her community.

We want to encourage the public to invest in Grace as she continues to serve in her community.

The Kolisi Foundation was founded by Siya and Rachel Kolisi with a vision to change narratives of inequality in South Africa. By working alongside others, adding our story to the stories of communities and individuals who are changing the world. By “remembering the one, one by one” we will impact the nation.

What we do?

The Kolisi Foundation seeks to support people living in under-resourced communities in South Africa, by providing relief resources, facilitating capacity-building and horizontal learning exchanges, and mobilizing and advocating for systemic change.

The Kolisi Foundation's mission is shaped around the following three programmatic areas: Food Security, Gender-Based Violence, and Education and Sports Development.
