We are reaching out to you with a heartfelt appeal from Goue Aar Old Aged Home, a cherished establishment that has been providing tender and compassionate care since 1979 in Malmesbury Swartland District.

Our mission is clear – to create a safe and secure environment that upholds the basic human rights and needs of our elderly residents. Over the years, we've not only opened our doors but our hearts to those who have become an integral part of our community.

The impact of our care extends far beyond the surface. It leaves an indelible mark on the lives of those we serve, offering immeasurable support to the 36 residents who use wheelchairs and the 42 who are incontinent. The care we provide is not just a duty; it's a responsibility born out of deep appreciation for the valuable contributions these individuals have made to our society.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves at a critical juncture. The health of our residents has seen a significant decline, attributed to factors beyond our control, including the challenges posed by Covid-19 and the natural aging process. In this final phase of their lives, we are committed to ensuring they experience dignity and an excellent standard of care.

However, our financial constraints have led us to a sustainability crisis. Despite the dedication of our loyal staff, financial limitations have prevented us from meeting the staffing ratios recommended by government standards.

We currently rely on three sources of income: subsidies from the Department of Social Development, residents' monthly fees, and fundraising activities. Regrettably, the government subsidy has remained stagnant, and 46 residents can only afford 90% of their SASSA grants as their monthly fees, resulting in a severe monthly deficit of R128,800.

This is where we urgently need your help. Our goal is to raise R100,000 to cover crucial monthly expenses:

• Residents’ monthly accommodation: R50,000
• Food expenses for residents: R20,000
• Staff salaries: R30,000

Without your support, we cannot overcome this crisis on our own. Your impactful contribution will make a tangible difference in the lives of our older persons, ensuring they continue to receive the care and dignity they deserve.
