Personal message
I’m a husband to a loving wife, a Financial Manager by trade, and a Mountain Biking enthusiast part of a Group of Gentlemen named The Barney’s Army. We try to give and assist where we can by doing what we love most “Mountain Biking”.
I’m doing this with the hope that it can form part of the transformation of at least one child's life. They are the future of this country in the end and we need to look after them.
My little buddy is Amber and she is 8 years old. She attends a mainstream school and lives in a children’s home with her biological sister and 17 other children. For a child attending a mainstream school and living in a children’s home things are very different as it’s very difficult for a non-profit organisation like Home of Hope to keep up with the costs of uniforms, books, events, etc. I am riding for Amber in order to help Home of Hope provide for her educational needs.
Home of Hope strives to provide Amber with a normal school experience by ensuring she doesn’t lack anything. I am so grateful to ride for Amber this year and help Home of Hope ensure she has an education.

Home of Hope

Home of Hope was started in 2005, and we are an NPO that cares for abandoned and abused children and children with Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD – permanent brain damage caused by pre-natal exposure to alcohol). We are a registered place of safety and we have 19 children in our long term community based foster care.
The organisation also caters for the special educational needs of children suffering from FAS (Foetal Alcohol Syndrome) and neurological challenges, in our Amathemba Learning Centre. There are currently 37 children at our Amathemba Learning Centre.
