Fagan's incapacity to work and lead a normal life intensifies the strain on his family, with his father on pension and his mother working seasonally in Ashton. The financial burden is immense, especially considering the substantial distance from their home in Bonnievale to Grootte Schuur Hospital in Cape Town.
