Personal message

My name is Dumisile Zulu, affectionately known as Lethu, and I am a third-year medical student at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. My journey in pursuing a medical degree is fuelled by a profound passion for medicine and a sincere commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

 

Growing up in a small township, I realized the importance of education, especially for young girls. Despite challenges, I aspired to pave my own path towards fulfilling my dream of becoming a medical doctor. Marianne Williamson's quote, "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us... You are a child of God..", has been my guiding light since I was 10, empowering me to overcome obstacles.

 

However, I find myself facing a financial hurdle that jeopardizes my academic progress. I am unable to cover my tuition historic debt of R 22,867.50, a roadblock preventing me from continuing my studies. This campaign is my humble plea for support to overcome this obstacle and pursue my dream.

 

The motivation behind my journey is deeply rooted in my childhood experiences. Witnessing family members suffer due to inadequate healthcare resources ignited my determination to make a difference. I believe in the transformative power of healthcare and the profound influence doctors have in promoting wellness and alleviating suffering.

 

My academic journey has been marked by dedication and excellence, but the financial challenges persist. Despite working part-time, the burden of covering my historic debt remains substantial. With faith, determination, honesty, kindness, and humility, I have persevered, believing that I am destined to become a medical doctor.

 

I launch this campaign with the hope that individuals who appreciate the significance of quality healthcare and the dedication required to pursue a medical degree will join me in this endeavour. Your support will not only help me overcome financial barriers but also contribute to cultivating a compassionate and capable healthcare professional.

 

The funds raised will directly contribute to clearing my tuition debt, allowing me to continue studying towards my dream of becoming a medical doctor.
