I have once again entered the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour, which takes place on Sunday 9th March 2008. This time however, I will be supporting a worthy cause in the form of the CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation, the well-known South African organization that provides help to improve the welfare and quality of care to children with cancer.

The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour, as many of you already know, is a 109 kilometer cycle race in Cape Town, a world-class event which attracts 35 000 participants a year and is the biggest of its kind.

This year is the first time we are able to fund-raise in an easy and secure way on the www.easigiving.co.za (alternatively named www.backabuddy.co.za ) website. Have a look for yourself, and at the same time I would appreciate it if you could reach for the credit card and help me to support this great organization. In particular, I would like to challenge other Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour entrants to also select a charity, and to do the same. To all my sport-loving Buddies out there, let’s see if we can squeeze a smile out of our Hearty Herb above by reaching our target of R40 000. So, equally as important as your donation, please communicate details of my fund-raising page - without delay and before you forget - to everyone you think may be interested - whether verbally, by email, or facebook, whether in SA or anywhere else in the world. [ THURSDAY 13th MARCH: Safely back in Jhb after a fantastic week-end. Race-day Sunday offered fantastic conditions for cyclists, with beautiful sunshine and almost no wind. I went off at 7h25 and got to the finish 3hr 16min later, a bit tired but very satisfied with the result. Equally pleasing has been the outstanding response to this page, with R22 600 collected, plus a further R1000 pledged. Needless to say, CHOC is amazed at what has been achieved so far. The page remains open for further donations so please help wherever you can. Thanks again to those of you that have donated so generously. Dijon.]
