Personal message
Debbie has dedicated her entire life to helping people, and now, facing stage 4 cancer, she remains steadfast in her commitment to assisting others as she navigates this challenging journey. Despite the immense difficulty, she is determined to continue making a positive impact on society during the time she has left.
However, Debbie is currently grappling with short-term financial challenges due to the sale of her house, a divorce, and family financial burdens related to hospital transportation, food, oxygen machines, and medical supplies. Recognizing her unwavering desire to contribute to society, I, as her ex-husband, believe it would be impactful to alleviate some of her suffering by making a financial contribution to support her ongoing efforts.
Debbie's passion for helping others dates back to her childhood. Her altruistic endeavors have taken her to impoverished communities in South Africa, various African countries, South America, and Europe. She has tirelessly attended to the needs of old-age homes, boarding schools, crèches, schools for the deaf, churches, hospitals, youth camps, and provided counseling services. Her extensive contributions include establishing a community outreach project preschool, creating a sanctuary for the development of children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and providing teacher training and support for abused women.
The shock of being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, coupled with the physical and emotional challenges she faces, has deeply affected Debbie. Despite the adversity, she remains hopeful that sharing her experiences will benefit others, encouraging them to embrace joy, peace, and gratitude in their remaining time. Debbie expresses gratitude for the care she receives from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital, as well as the support provided by Hospice and DL Link.
Throughout her journey, Debbie feels compelled to share her experiences openly. She aims to shed light on the honest realities of living with cancer, guide families and friends on supporting cancer patients, and inspire hope even beyond her own life. Her desire is to be a beacon of hope for those facing cancer and their loved ones, encouraging them to find value in relationships over material pursuits.
As she documents her journey on her Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555465202314), Debbie invites others to join her in fostering support for those affected by cancer.
Her personal profile is also available at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100013397200117&mibextid=ZbWKwL for a more intimate look into her thoughts and experiences.
Debbie's mission is not only to contribute to society during her remaining time but also to nurture and encourage support for others through counseling, joining support groups, seeking medical assistance, and providing guidance on finding positivity amid life's challenges.
She emphasizes the importance of celebrating accomplishments rather than lamenting losses and appreciating the beauty of life in its various forms.
There is, indeed, much for all of us to be grateful for at this very moment.
