Dana is one of the matriarchs of addiction counselling in the Western Cape. She is well known and respected for her extensive work with addicted individuals and their families.

It is safe to say that Dana has helped hundreds over the years. There are many people who acknowledge her to be a crucial part of their recovery journeys, as she brings her personality and authenticity to every interaction.

This year, Dana will be completing her first triathlon ‘Sprint,’ which includes a 500m swim, 20km cycle, followed by a 5km run. By the way, she has recently had a hip replacement and happens to be turning 50 this year!

Dana’s first triathlon is dedicated to a special cause: Rainbows and Smiles (a cancer awareness organisation that promotes early detection and care for families). Dana lost her sister to cancer at the age of 30, so this is a cause close to her heart.

In addition, a friend of hers was recently diagnosed with cancer when 14 weeks pregnant. This was a precious pregnancy, as the woman had been trying for years. This week, Dana’s friend gave birth to healthy baby girl, despite having bouts of chemotherapy throughout her pregnancy. The choice to dedicate Dana's first triathlon to Rainbows and Smiles is one of both a sad remembrance and celebration of a miracle!
