Personal message
Deciding to walk 300km of the Camino De Santiago in Northern Spain has been a seed in my brain for a long time.
In January this year, the year I turn 65, the decision was made to do it before it was too late.
In the beginning my idea of walking was for my own spiritual well being, but as time progressed, my thoughts were to try and make a difference in other people's lives.
Being a grandparent of a child that was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 6, and having spent endless time in a paediatric oncology ward, seeing other children suffer the same and sometimes worse than my hero did, and having experienced the warmth and support of the two most amazing, brave people (Nadia and Bonni – from Rainbows and Smiles) I have met, I made the decision to try and raise funds for their wonderful foundation, Rainbows and Smiles.
The support they provide to parents and mostly children suffering from cancer, on donations only, words cannot describe.
Hopefully my little walk can help make a difference through your donations to this wonderful organisation.
I will be sharing a daily update with photos from the start of my Camino on the 29th of August until I reach Santiago de Compostela on the 11th of September.
