Personal message
After experiencing five miscarriages, I received a diagnosis of Lupus SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) in 2019.
Despite years of trying to conceive, my health was not in optimal condition, leading me to accept that motherhood might not be in my future. During this time, I prioritized my well-being, faith, and cherished relationships with loved ones.
In December 2023, during a health check with my specialist due to worsening symptoms, we were surprised to discover that I was pregnant. However, given my history of miscarriages, the news was more anxiety-inducing than joyful.
Upon consulting my specialist and gynecologist, I was advised to start immediate daily Clexane injections to prevent blood clots for both the baby and myself, due to complications from Lupus and Antiphospholipid syndrome.
We have been pursuing approval for this treatment through Discovery since December 12th 2023, providing all required documentation multiple times, yet we are still awaiting a decision.
Each Clexane injection costs approximately R98.00, and I need to administer it daily for the remaining 22 weeks of my pregnancy. While reluctant to seek public assistance, the financial strain has led us to humbly ask for any support, no matter how small, which would be immensely appreciated with gratitude and love.
Each appointment and scan I fall in love with this little one more and more by day, and we pray for the baby's health alongside with mine as this is a extremely high risk pregnancy due to my chronic health conditions.
We are truly blessed with a miracle!!
